I'm Alive...

I've just been under the weather the last few days. Burnin' my candle at both ends as my Mama says. I've not yet made the transition to WP because I've not been on the internet lately other than just from my phone. Bear with me. I'll be back soon! Love to you all!

p.s. my new WP account will be the same url, with "wordpress" instead of "blogspot". I've already begun the transfer but have yet to personalize it, which was the whole intent anyway. So if you're curious, check it out, if not, I'll still post here one more time to announce the official transition.

Blogger to WP

I've been in the market for a blog makeover for some time. But having realized I post more pics than I do text, I've succumbed to the fact that Blogger is just not as user friendly in this aspect. So, my dear blogging friends, I do believe I'm going to make the transition. I've already imported everything to WP, now it's time to fine tune it and then use it specifically.

I'm just putting this out there. I really really really enjoy the "followers" aspect of Blogger, as creepy sounding as it is, because I can simply click on my peeps to go read. But WP does have a built in blog roll so that's my trade-off. I can't be sure when I'll make the final transition but this is my foreshadowing, take note! :)

I love you all, thank you so much for your support and saccharine sweet comments, you've no idea how they make my heart smile!

Time, Be Still!

Please, I am enjoying this spring more than any before it, and if Father Time could just put the slow-mo effect on the clocks like he does when I'm in labor, or having cramps, I'd be much obliged.

It's April 1! Seven years ago today, I went in to Planned Parenthood with my sister from another mother, Val, to see what was up with my giant breasticles. I'd gone from a B to a full C in a couple of weeks. My mom immediately said "You're pregnant!" and since I had never been on BC and had been in a committed relationship for a whole month or two at the time :) I reluctantly agreed that this was a possibility.

Well, that little possibility learned how to ride his bike sans training wheels last week! Here he is trailing his buddy Coen on their first bike ride together!

The week of camping in Hanna was amazing. I could live like that for a while, no doubt. Camping soothes my soul in the same way surfing does. I hope D realizes the legacy of Connecting with Nature that I'm trying to pass on to him. He was so excited to be able to play in the rain, so it might just be catchin' on.

D went to school and Nathan went to work Monday through Thursday, and our campmates in the RV too went to work, so I held down the fort. I did lots of hiking and exploring, which left me rather content as you can imagine. I gathered wood for the evening's fire and kept the home flame burnin'. I drank coffee and sat and listened to the birds. It was blissful.

There were these 2 ducks that liked the same little spot I liked to drink my coffee. At first they were a little perturbed at my presence, but once they saw me sitting there for so long they came in closer. It was dark that day; gray, cloudy, rainy, warm, foggy, musky, all of those things. I loved it.

The browns and greens of my environment:

Friday, Nate took off work to spend some QT with us at the site. That night we had a few visitors and we all sat around and gabbed till almost midnight by the fire, when we had our Grand Finale and burned every bit of wood we'd gathered, including several dead palm fronds, which are basically explosive. It was a beautiful ending to a fun, albeit dirty, week!

In true spring fashion, we've had our share of T-storms lately. The lightning has been epic and beautiful and we've left the windows open at night for the steady sound of drops hitting pavement to accompany our sleep.

It's D's spring break this week. Today I made him French Toast just like my mama made for me every single day of my childhood. What a woman; there's never been another sweeter. Ask anyone that knows her. And like my father's mother, they broke the mold when they made her. I hope D fondly recalls our mornings together, and filters out the little spats about blowing stinkstink breath in each others' faces first thing.

I'm hoping to take him bowling this afternoon, but the rain just won't let up so I may be stuck all day inside cuddling, reading, playing games and watching cartoons. Darnit! ;)

Did You Think I Could Do It?

I didn't either.

My excuses for driving the two minutes home from camping are aplenty, but the main one was to grab some fresh droors. But the computer started wailing in loneliness and I needed to get the pics off the camera so I could take more, so here I am.

OH THE FUN!
^My first self-portrait in a long, long while -- it's representative. I look pretty content, eh? I am. Life is Good, Love is Great. Thank you Nathan, for making me the happiest woman in the world.

We're Out Camping, Please Leave a Message :beeeep:

Yesterday I packed our gear and drove down the street to beautiful Hanna Park for an impromptu week of camping. I picked D up from school and brought him "home" and he was thrilled. He has a play date today so I'm going to bring the other cute little bugger to the park with us for some hiking and bike riding. No time yet to post pictures, I'm just in the house gathering a few necessities and checking in on the interweb before I say good-bye for a few days.

Please don't blog too much while I'm gone. I barely've enough time as it is to keep up. ;)

XOXOX

Eggs WILL NOT Stand On Their End Today.

This is probably my favorite day of the year, you know.

In Japan, it's celebrated as a national holiday, as is the fall equinox. The Chinese have their Spring Festival, also known as the Lunar New Year. The UN celebrates today as Earth Day, although most countries reserve that party for April 22.

Here in North Florida, this weekend, we have the Seafood Festival. It's the first festival of the year, and around here, that's some promised good people watchin'. The weather is looking a bit grim, chilly and cloudy due to the current Noreaster blowing. We prefer sunshine and warmth for family outings. But tomorrow morning we're bundling up for Garden Day at D's school. Today I went in and helped pull some weeds, but tomorrow we're all (students and parents) planting several fruit trees. I'm crossing my fingers for their winter survivals!

It's so exciting, this time of year! The caterpillars are falling out of the trees and they are D's best buddies. My parents always told me these things would sting me, so I never played with them. Well, it was a LIE! Mom simply rolled her eyes when I told her it was okay, I'd already forgiven her.

And the Wisteria! Pinch me, I'm dreaming! It's scent is just heavenly, I want to roll around in fields of it!

Thank you sweet Mother Earth!
